Hampson Woods’ Russell Square boards

L1370525.JPG

At home a piece of Russell Square resides.

Well, two pieces, London Plane both, fashioned by Hampson Woods from a 200 year old tree that fell, into those two things in the kitchen that we use sometimes for chopping stuff, sometimes for serving things, those two boards.

They’re invaluable. Really they are. 5 years hard work, and I treat them terribly, oil them far too infrequently, yet they never complain, not even a degree of warping. Beautifully smooth with an elegant and practical swan’s neck.

Proof that the simplest things made from the humblest materials, are the best.
